Umeå Biotech Incubator is one of Europe’s top biotech incubators. For 20 years we have provided full-service support for medical innovations who are eager to test and verify their business ideas within the Life science field.
In the International Incubator Program we’ve picked out one of the key benefits of our incubator program and are now offering it to international individuals and companies as a stand-alone, web-based workshop/program.

When?
The next course will start in September, 2023. The applications are open and reviewed on a rolling basis.

See the detailed schedule for the pilot course here

Who is it for?
This is an evaluation/pre-incubation course. We are looking for those who have identified a problem and a solution within the Life science field. You are in the early product/innovation development stage. You are a non-Swedish startup. You don’t have to have a patent application or a company. We will help you verify the problem and analyze the market’s needs.

What happens after I have filled out the registration of interest?
We will contact you after your registration to find out more about your startup. It’s an initial meeting to verify that the course is suitable for you. After that, you make a formal application. Payment via invoice at the start of the program.

What is in the program?
The program provides valuable support in a group and one-on-one setting, expert discussions and feedback, personalized coaching, and own work. Each startup gets access to a personal coach that provides support throughout the program. Included is a chance to network and interact with peers and experts as well as open the doors to Sweden, one of the top innovation countries in Europe.

Why and how do we do this?
It is a tricky path from an idea to the Life science market. Many new ideas fail because they have not identified the needs of the customers and the market. To succeed, you need to ask the right questions in the right way. At UBI we are experts at this. Read more here.

What do you get?

  • Education in a method for verifying business ideas.
  • One-on-one time with an experienced Life science business coach.
  • An activity plan with a gross budget until the next development phase.
  • Feedback on your pitch from a broad-competence panel in a value-creating-forum setting.

The maximum number of participants in the program?
6 participants. First rolled, first served.

Can we be several participants from one startup/company?
Yes. The fee is per startup, not per person. But of course, you must join the same sessions when meeting with your business coaches.

How much does it cost?
5 000 Euros. Payment via invoice at the start of the program.

What do you commit?
Full participation in mentoring sessions with your time and peer feedback. After accepting a place in the program, a no-show fee of 500 Euros applies.

Where do I register?
