The life science incubator Umeå Biotech Incubator is owned by Umeå Universitet Holding, Umeå Kommunföretag and Region Västerbotten.

UBI receives annual core funding from some of our owners – so-called mandator funding. These public financiers all have a strong interest in healthcare improvement, life science research and regional development. They invest in our organisation in order to promote the implementation of scientific knowledge, strengthen evidence in health care and grow life science companies that can contribute to the development of our region.

Their investments are currently multiplied several times due to the national, and international grants awarded to the incubator. In total, the annual mandatory funding covers less than one-fifth of the incubators’ current turnover.
