Last week, a curious delegation from Vinnova visited us for a full day breif on our tailored incubation process. The systematic robust approach and the dedication of the UBI staff were the things which stood out according to the visitors.

Wednesday the 20th of June, our CEO Jennie Ekbeck welcomed Lena Nyberg, Emelie Falk and Maria Kaaman from Vinnova in the incubator facility at Tvistevägen 48C in Umeå. Following a guided tour around our labs, community area and co-working spaces she presented the incubator’s key process elements developed during the past three years within the HIBA-project. The meeting focused on incubation phases, reaching milestones and UBI’s overall strategy, including the work for diversity and sustainable entreprenourship.

The study visit left our visitors with two main impressions; The Quality of our systematic work flow and The Dedication of our coaches and staff towards our cases.

– We got a feeling of solid work put into UBI’s process – which is continuously evaluated and based on a standard-operating-procedure (SOP) making it robust and not person-dependent, said Maria Kaaman after the visit.

Besides professional exchange the visit resulted in surprise smiles when it turned out that two of our business coaches Anne-Charlotte Aronsson and Peter Jacobsson had been working closely with one of the visitors many years before. When asked about what was most personally inspiring about UBI, the dedication stood out.

– Both the CEO and coaches displayed a strong dedication and will to work hard for the cases in the incubator, said Maria Kaaman.

Jennie Ekbeck praised Vinnova for taking on an overall perspective regarding their innovation financing strategies for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). The delegation to UBI consisted of staff working with both the national incubation programme and the grants for SME’s in the health area.

– We appreciate an active national dialogue and value the input from our innovation collegues from Stockholm. We are always ready to contribute to the development of the innovation ecosystem in Sweden in order to make us the best choice for life science investment in the world, she said.
