Diamyd Medical has expanded its manufacturing strategy through a long‑term collaboration with APL in Umeå and a strategic partnership with NorthX Biologics, a contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) based in Matfors, Sweden. Together, the parties will further develop and scale up production of the biological drug candidate retogatein (rhGAD65) in preparation for potential future commercialisation.
Sofia Mayans, who transitioned from her research to co-founding the award-winning company InfiCure Bio, is taking on a new role as Director of Business Development at Diamyd Medical in Umeå.

Diamyd Medical actively expands its workforce in Umeå, focusing on recruiting individuals with key competencies.

A new AI solution for sustainable production is to be tested at Diamyd Medical’s vaccine manufacturing facility in Umeå. It is hoped, once the solution has been refined, that it can be introduced in companies throughout Sweden.

A recruitment drive is underway at Diamyd Medical’s new vaccine facility in Umeå after the company announced it is moving production of the GAD65 protein, the active substance in the diabetes vaccine Diamyd, from abroad to Sweden.
“This move gives us greater control and more knowledge about our study drug. Personally it feels fantastic to be involved in building a vaccine facility from the ground up”, says Maja Johansson, Site Manager in Umeå.
