Last year marked the debut of Umeå Lab Fair, which welcomed 18 suppliers of lab equipment from across Sweden. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and this year’s edition is growing to 20 companies. Demand was so high that not everyone could be accommodated.
“The fair filled up almost instantly. We’ve had to say no to several companies simply because we ran out of space,” says Christin.
The event is open to anyone working in a lab, whether in the life science industry, academia, or healthcare. As the only event of its kind in northern Sweden, Umeå Lab Fair offers local lab professionals a unique chance to explore innovations without leaving town.
“Most lab fairs are held in the bigger cities. When suppliers come to Umeå, they usually come one at a time. This is something different — 20 companies, all in one place. It creates a great opportunity for both the visitors and the exhibitors. We’ve also extended the fair by an hour this year, based on feedback, so it’ll now run from 11 AM to 2 PM,” Christin adds.
Just like last year, the fair will wrap up with the Life Science Pub at Cinco later that evening.
“Combining the fair with the pub was a great decision — it gives everyone a chance to keep the conversations going in a more relaxed setting. The pub usually attracts around 150 people from Umeå’s life science scene, including professionals from the university, regional healthcare, and industry,” Christin says.
