Nordic Biomarker
Developing reagents for rapid detection of thrombosis -
particle-enhanced immunoagglutination to quantify fibrin D-dimer
fragments.
Already when a thrombus (blood clot formed in the blood vessels)
is formed, fragments of fibrin are released from the clot. The
smallest fragment, D-dimer, is an important biomarker for
thrombosis. Particle-enhanced immunoagglutination is a suitable
technique to make fast analyses of D-dimer with automated
instruments in the hospital laboratories. In our project we have
designed a production process for the bioreagents that are required
to perform thetest. We have founded and initially financed a
company, nordic biomarker, to produce andmarket the bioreagents to
companies that are selling coagulation instruments to
hospitalsaround the world.
